Other prayer letters you can read: We are living in exciting times! This New Year is the mark of the beginning of a new era. Let me start out by wishing you and your church a Happy New Millennium! Our prayers are that God may bless your lives, your families, and your ministry more this next year than in the past. I guess the reason why we are so excited about this new millennium is because the old one closed so well for our ministry in Acapulco. As usual, the Acapulco Baptist Church celebrated our annual "Gift Day", which is a big evangelistic outreach event. We beat last year's record with 265 people attending! We filled the rented conference room and 17 received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior!! Not only that, but our annual special Christmas Gift offering to the church was a record high, as well. On top of giving their Tithes and Faith Promise to Missions, they raised a special amount of $1,700 DLLs. on this single special Sunday! I praise God for such a giving, caring, and working church. I also give thanks to God for such a great team of leaders I have, especially my Co-Pastor, Pepe. In our physical absence from Acapulco, he has kept the church going right on target. Please pray for the church in Acapulco, however, because the owners just decided to raise the rent another 35% for this next year. We are unable to pay the monthly fee and are in desperate need of finding another place. Pray that God may show us where to go and that eventually we may raise up the money for the purchase of the badly needed property we have found. Your Fellow Soldiers, Scott & Gloria Brown Go back to topWhat a blessing we just received! Our church in Acapulco has been witnessing an average of 25 souls being saved per week for the past couple of months. The Acapulco Baptist Church just had their first Missions Conference and they promised around $27,500 U.S. DLLs. in Faith Promise alone for the next year. Not bad for 120 middle-lower class Mexicans! On the other side of the border, we just completed our fifth Missions Conference in a row. What blessings we have seen and received! People sacrificing their prized possessions for the cause of Missions and the furtherance of the Gospel, amazing increases of Faith Promise and participants in Missions giving, the lost being saved, and new clothes for our whole family. In one Missions Conference, they held a Youth Rally and asked us to put on a Taekwondo demonstration. FIVE young people were saved! We do ask that you continue to pray earnestly for us concerning a few things:
Your Fellow Soldiers, Scott & Gloria Brown Go back to topWOW! We have been very busy lately, but very excited about what God has been doing in our lives. God has been so good to us on the Deputation trail. First of all, we really needed a new Laptop and God amazingly provided us with the means to get one. Secondly, we just got home from a Youth Camp in Texas. The theme was Missions 2000, and 6 young men and women surrendered to full time ministry. Even though I didn’t preach evangelistic messages, 15 kids were saved! Seven made decisions for baptism and several others dedicated their lives to the Lord and promised to read their Bibles and pray every day for the remaining time of the year 2000. Also, we just finished our very first VBS and there were several decisions made for salvation. We enjoyed performing Taekwondo demonstrations every night and drawing analogies from this Korean Martial Art to teach spiritual truths to the kids. In Acapulco, because of the many people receiving Christ, one of our Deacons is starting a Bible Study with the intention of establishing them in the Local Church. Also, in alliance with RIBBI (our Network of churches in Mexico), we are starting another church in Chalco, which is in the Mexico City metroplex. Please pray for our Co-Pastor, Pepe, and his wife’s pregnancy. Their baby boy is due the beginning of August and has a 50% chance of inheriting Pepe’s blood problem. Also, pray that we can find a Mini-Van, because we need a bigger vehicle than our Escort to travel in, especially with 2 boys in their car seats. Thank you for your prayers and support. We pray this letter may be of encouragement to your life and your church. Your Fellow Soldiers, Scott & Gloria Brown Go back to topWhere do I even begin to tell you about all the blessings that God has been giving us these past months? He's been so good to us, to our church, and the ministry in Mexico. On a personal level, we were able to get a mini-van, thanks to some great churches.
In the middle of our
deputation, Gloria, the boys and I flew down to Acapulco to preach a Faith
Promise conference, for the purchase of our own
On top of their tithes and Faith Promise missions offerings, the church
promised a total of $7,000 dollars this next year for our Building
project. The new church that was started in Chalco just two months ago is already
running an average of 50 in attendance on Sunday morning. This new

Good news about my Co-Pastor's (Pepe) newborn baby boy: César was born August 5 and with no signs of his father's blood disease. Praise the Lord!
We thank God for the young people we've seen saved in the youth camps we've been in this Summer. And we thank you for supporting us, because these are YOUR fruits, as well! Please pray that we will be able to raise our support quickly. It is going much slower than we imagined, and with such great ministry needs in Mexico right now, we really do need to get back soon. There are 3-5 more couples waiting in line to be trained up and sent to a foreign field from our church alone, not counting on all the other ministerial work that our Network of churches in Mexico (RIBBI) is in need of accomplishing at this present time.
