Adequate training for the work of the ministry is something Scott has been fortunate to have all his life. Having been born and raised on the Mission field has it’s sacrifices, but also has it’s privileges, especially with parents like Scott’s that were always open and made him feel a part of their ministry.

Scott has been involved with a numerous amount of evangelistic events, even as a little boy, and was helping in winning souls before he was even a teenager.

Having already taken several Bible conferences and been discipled on a personal level, Scott started his more formal ministerial training in August of 1991, when he enrolled in the Shepherd’s School of Ministry of the Kansas City Baptist Temple. He studied there for one year.

In May of 1992, Scott moved back to Monterrey, Mexico, and was enrolled in the International Bible Baptist Institute of the Monterrey Baptist Church. This is when Scott really started to explode in his leadership training in the ministry.

Scott, having been involved with this ministry in Kansas City, started Sons Of Thunder in Mexico. This ministry was started with the intent of helping young preachers practice and sharpen each others’ skill in the art of expository preaching. This ministry has grown into one of the key leadership training ministries in the entire structure of Biblical Discipleship within the Network of Interdependent Bible Baptist Churches (RIBBI) of Mexico.

It was November of 1992 when Scott made his first trip to Acapulco. As he was receiving his ministerial training in his father’s Bible Institute, Scott was putting it all into practice during his trips to Acapulco. When he had to spend anywhere from one week to three months in Acapulco by himself, Scott would keep studying via video.

Eventually Scott became one of the teachers of IBBI. In November of 1994, after one year of pastoring the Acapulco Baptist Church, Scott went to Monterrey to teach "Pastoral Epistles", which was video taped and included as one of the IBBI courses. Other courses Scott has designed and/or taught are "Personal Evangelism", "The Plan of God", "Fasting", and "Ephesians".

On October 12, 1997, Scott was ordained in the Monterrey Baptist Church. Since then, Scott has been on several Missions trips to different countries, including the Dominican Republic and Cuba. Scott has taken 9 lay leaders of his church, in the space of one year, to the foreign field, and has even been the leader of a team from different Mexican churches to Cuba.

During his six years as Senior Pastor of the Acapulco Baptist Church, Scott has raised the average attendance from 11 to 170, ordained one Co-Pastor, commissioned five Deacons, and established another church in the capitol of the state of Guerrero. The Chilpancingo Baptist Church was started in May of 1999 and is totally financed by the church in Acapulco.
